Tulyar (1949_1972) was an Irish bred Thoroughbred racehorse. He won the Epsom Derby, the St. Leger Stakes, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Ormonde Stakes and the Eclipse Stakes setting a record for a single season’s earnings in England. He stood at stud in Ireland and America, but failed to live up to expectations as a sire.

As a three-year-old Tulyar started seven times and was undefeated, winning the Epsom Derby in a time of 2 minutes 36.4 seconds. He also won the St. Leger Stakes, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Ormonde Stakes and the Eclipse Stakes setting a record for a single season’s earnings in England. He did not compete in the 2000 Guineas race. In all he had won nine of his thirteen race starts. Tulyar was then retired sound and when his reputation was at a peak
