A depiction of the great dressage horse ‘Stanhopes Diddicoy’
Susan Crawford is one of the greatest equestrian artists painting today. She has painted five members of the British Royal family, including mounted portraits of both HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales, as well as HH The Sultan of Brunei and HM The Sultan of Oman. She has also painted over 20 Derby winners and steeple-chasing greats, including Red Rum, Arkle and Desert Orchid. Her famous subject We Three Kings is now one of the greatest-selling prints of all time. The subject of this limited edition gouttelette is Stanhopes Diddicoy, the great dressage sire. Stanhopes Diddicoy was the first coloured horse to compete and to be placed for Great Britain at international level. Born in 1990 and owned by Viscountess Petersham, he has been Supreme Champion many times, including at the Royal Windsor, Great Yorkshire, Hickstead & Addington shows. A striking skewbald, Stanhopes Diddicoy has world class jumping blood on both sides of his pedigree. His sire was Ico (Hessen) and his dam was Gipsy (Hessen) by Gottward (Hanoverian). He proved himself with a highly successful and versatile competition career in Showing, Show Jumping and Dressage and his progeny are now also excelling in these disciplines.
