Partridges are medium sized, non-migratory game birds living in Europe, Asia and parts of Africa. They are often found nesting on agricultural land, where they nest on the ground and have a diet consisting of seeds, grapes and insects. They are often reared in captivity and released for the purpose of hunting.
A hare often lives in the same environment. They are similar in size to rabbits, but often live either a solitary life or live in pairs and the young are able to fend for themselves shortly after birth.
In this image, Thorburn captures the animals in their natural habitat on a cold winters day.
