Wiggins’ 2012Tour de France win was described by many as the most outstanding individual sporting performance ever by a Briton. At the London Olympics, Wiggins dominated the road time trial in front of huge crowds. His gold medal in that event, his fourth gold and seventh Olympic medal in all, took him ahead of Steve Redgrave, the rower, at the top of the list of British medal winners at Olympic Games. To top off a fantastic year for Bradley, he was named as BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year 2012 and his achievements were recognised in the 2013 New Years Honours list in which he was awarded a Knighthood for his service to cycling
