The 1972 Targa Florio saw one of the closest battles ever fought over the tough Sicilian roads, with the Ferrari 312P of Sandro Munari and Arturo Merzario holding off the Alfa Romeo 33 TT33 of Marko/Galli to win by just 17 seconds.
