The Martini Racing Porsche 917K driven by Dr Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep scored a deserved victory from the similar JW entered machine of Attwood and Muller. The lightweight magnesium car took the lead in the 13th hour and crossed the finishing line after covering a distance of 3315 miles at an average speed of 138 mph. The car is seen here leading the third placed Ferrari 512M of Posey and Adamovicz and the Attwood and Muller Porsche as they negotiate Mulsanne corner.
