I grew up in South Wales and spent my childhood exploring the Welsh countryside and getting to know the wildlife therein. At an early age, I
was never without a pencil and sketchpad and this habit has never left me.
When I married in the 1980’s, I moved to Wiltshire. It is here that I have developed my skills as an Artist, inspired by the wildlife literally on my own doorstep. I am fortunate to live in a cottage with a large garden backing onto open farmland. I am visited daily by a large number of bird species and frequently by squirrel, roe and muntjac deer, rabbits, badger and hedgehog. I am also close to the Wiltshire Downs, home to numerous species including one of my favourites, the hare. I knew that my destiny was to paint and the subject I am naturally drawn to is my first love – British wildlife.
I still love visiting my native Wales in particular the Brecon Beacons and the North Pembrokeshire coast; areas literally bursting with wildlife. To gather more painting material and to get close to more elusive species I frequent nature reserves and Bird of Prey Centres and family outings often double as field trips!
I have exhibited extensively in the West of England, South Wales, London, Tyne and Wear and also in Germany. Locally, I am represented by the Gallery at Handel House, Devizes.
I am happy to be commissioned and my pastel portraits of animal and human studies make superb gifts. I use top quality materials and guarantee an excellent likeness of a subject. This attracts a clientele who wish to invest in the more classical style of artwork where attention to detail and a high degree of skill are essential.
