The Aidan O’Brien-trained Camelot (Montjeu) was an impressive winner of the Derby at Epsom, racing in the rear and quickly making up ground in the straight after struggling down the hill, surging clear to win by five lengths in the hands of trainer’s son Joseph O’Brien thus being the first father and son, trainer and jockey, in the history of the race. David Lanigan’s Main Sequence ran on to snatch second on the line from the pacesetting Astrology.

Camelot was staying on strongly to the line and connections looked to be considering a Triple Crown bid for Camelot
