Charles XII was a brown colt bred in 1836 by Major Nicholas Yarburgh. He was out of the Prime Minister mare Wagtail, whom the Major had also bred at Heslington Hall, near York; she also produced the Blacklock son Laurel who was a great cup winner in the north, and Laurel’s sister, Belinda, second in the Doncaster St. Charles XII was a weedy and somewhat delicate youngster who reached 16 hands by the age of three, but he proved to be a game stayer who ran for five seasons.  Charles the Twelfth won the 1839 St Leger

Each print is hand numbered, accompanied by a certificate signed by the Master Printer and is numbered to match the print. The editions are limited to 1880 copies.
