Bluegrass Cat competed successfully among the best horses of his generation. He dueled Barbaro finishing second to him in the Kentucky Derby and he again finished second in the Belmont to Jazil. He proved to be the most consistent runner in the toughest of company. He finished first or second in 9 of his eleven starts competing in the Kentucky Derby, Belmont, Travers and Haskell Stakesãhallmark races in which only the best are even allowed in the starting gates. He won five of his eleven starts including the prestigious Grade I Haskell Invitational Stakes by seven lengths and finished second in eight races.
Bluegrass Cat accumulated earnings of over $1.76 million and now stands at stud at WinStar Farm where he is believed to be one of their most promising young stallions standing today.
