There is only one word to describe Rachel Alexandra, “sensational”. Her story is fascinating starting from the day she foaled and was rejected by her dam; but it was her racing career that captured the hearts of Americaês racing fans, young and old. Rachel’s three year old campaign in 2009 was more demanding then almost every colt of her generation, yet she went undefeated that year, winning the Kentucky Oaks, the Preakness Stakes (defeating colts), the Haskell Invitational (also against colts), the Mother Goose and the Woodward Stakes (against older males) at Saratoga. She received 2009 Horse of the Year honors and was retired from racing in 2010.
