The BMW 500 Rennsport was introduced in 1953 featuring shaft drive and BMW’s famous horizontally opposed ‘boxer’ twin cylinder engine. The bike had limited success as a solo machine but when a third wheel was added it created a virtually invincible sidecar racing outfit!
