Portrayed in this painting is a venerable collection of some of the greatest of the pre-war Big Class yachts. From left to right they are: Astra, Candida, Britannia, Shamrock V, Westward, Endeavour and Velsheda. The yachts are depicted racing around the West Ryde Middle buoy during a famous encounter in 1934.
