Elmalka shot to fame on only her third start by winning an exceptionally strong renewal of the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. Trained by Roger Varian for Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, Elmalka is by champion miler Kingman, out of the connections double Group 1 winner Nahrain. She is shown here with Sylvestre de Sousa in the saddle.
