A double head study of the superb half-sisters Tahiyra and Tarnawa, owned and bred by His Highness the Aga Khan from the exceptional broodmare Tarana, and trained at the Curragh by Dermot Weld. Tahiyra triumphed four times at the highest level, taking the Moyglare Stud Stakes, Irish 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, and Matron Stakes. Four years her elder, Tarnawa won nine races including a run of top-flight victories in the Prix Vermeille, Prix de l’Opera, and Breeders’ Cup Turf, before finishing a close second in vintage renewals of the Irish Champion Stakes and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
