Sunday Silence was the winner of two legs of the 1989 USA Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. He further won and the Breeders’ Cup Classic and was voted American Horse of the Year. He retired to Shadai Stallion Station in Japan and was champion sire thirteen times. His most important and influential stallion son was Deep Impact, who also stood at Shadai. Winner of the Japanese Triple Crown, the Japan Cup and the Takarazuka Kinen he was champion sire seven times, with classic winners in Britain, France and Japan.
