Artist’s Edition is limited to 75 s/n prints on archival paper.

This portrait of Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown was one of 80 pieces accepted from over 600 entries to the American Academy of Equine Art’s 2009 International Exhibition held at the International Museum of the Horse. It was also juried into the 2011 Atlanta Fine Art League exhibition and received award ribbons in two regional art shows.

Big Brown is shown leaving the training barn to be transported to Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Kentucky where he now stands at stud. He came out of the dark shadows of a huge oak tree appearing as if by magic as he entered the sunlight.

This portrait of Big Brown is available for $2,500 plus shipping. If you are interested in purchasing the original, please contact Dress the Walls gallery.

Big Brown was the dominant race horse during the 2008 racing season winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes classics. He compiled a race record of seven wins from eight starts, which in addition to the classics, includes the Florida Derby, the Haskell Invitational Stakes and the Monmouth Stakes. During his racing career he amassed earnings of $3.6 million, the respect of the racing community and hearts of the general population.

He entered stud duty in the fall of 2008 after injuring himself while preparing for the BreederĂªs Cup. The injury, though not severe, prevented him from racing in the only event of significance remaining for the 2008 racing season.

The artist acknowledges the cooperation and assistance of Three Chimneys Farm, where Big Brown now stands at stud. Without their assistance this artwork would not be possible and to whom the artist extends his gratitude and appreciation.
