Brazilian Ayrton Senna won a soaking 1988 British Grand Prix at Silverstone in a Mallboro-McLaren MP4/4 in a superb wet-weather virtuoso performance. He was to go on to win the 1988 World Championship and with his great rival and team-mate Alain Prost, the McLaren team was to win a record 15 out of 16 races.
