Perhaps the best part of a motor race is the tension before the start, or in this case before a practice session. This is the end of the pits at Brands Hatch in 1985 where the Formula 1 circus gathered for the European Grand Prix. Nigel Mansell chats to a tyre representative, whilst in the background the “professor” Alain Prost waits in his McClaren MP4. It was an important race for Mansell as it was his maiden victory.
